A long weir stretches from bottom right corner to left of centre and is lined by trees to the left and electricity pylons to the right of the azure sky background
It might seem unlikely but the King Power is just beyond the left of this frame

An image from today: The weir behind the Leicester City football stadium, which was named The King Power Stadium after the name of the company name of the Thai family who bought the club. King Power have a branch in Phuket, which was one location that was worth staying in for a while during time in Thailand, only a few months before this shot was taken.

If we attach our feelings of fear to a material occurrence outside of ourselves, such as an oppressor that can be eradicated, do we ever really eliminate our subservience to the fear?

We might face the thing that we perceive as inducing the fear and that is an act of bravery. In doing this, we face the fear in a specific manifestation, but we do so in order to dispel or adjust the thing to which we have attributed the fear, for the improvement our own comfort or living standards. We have dealt with thing that we are “afraid” of. Haven’t we?

There are many who would say that this is clearly not the case. After all, what was it we were really frightened of in the first instance? Another human is just another human. Were we scared of not having the opportunities we want to express ourselves? Even worse, perhaps we were scared of being limited to the options of doing exactly as is expected or facing serious repercussions.

Essentially, we were scared of losing our freedom. What freedom are we scared of losing? The freedom of expression? Nobody can actually take that away from anyone else, apart from tying them up and gagging them. Even then, why do we feel the need to express ourselves? What does that mean? And why are those who are oppressing us doing what they are doing?

Usually, it’s because of fear. What do they fear? Perhaps they fear losing their freedom, just like the person they are oppressing. Perhaps they fear a God they understand will punish them if they don’t do what they are doing, for whatever reason. Maybe they have no indoctrinated beliefs and have never been oppressed. Yet, they still feel the need to control others. Where does this come from?

The answers may vary wildly in how they are worded, but can be reduced to one energy: fear. We can say, “some people are just like that,” or, “they’re just a control freak,” or, “they know that it’s a dog-eat-dog world,” or whatever other phrase we might use to trivialise and overlook what’s really going on.

Why do we want to overlook what’s really going on? We know that once we start digging into the motivations of others, we might be compelled to ask ourselves questions about our own fears. We fear having to face what really bothers us and acknowledge it, because it seems such an impossible task to overcome it. That is because we look at having to overcome something as having to beat, change or avoid it.

The thing with energy is that it’s always changing. At any given time, we can experience an energy shift and categorise it according the labelling system we have developed for describing feelings.

We might not even acknowledge the fear in our discussions of it, either in our minds or with others, but the fear is the controlling factor in our decisions without us even realising it.
