We’re the many the few use,

Some are labelled terrorists,

Just because they’ll never quit,

As long as there are billionaires,

Developing their wealth,

By benefitting from decisions,

That are damaging,

The health of this,

Planet we inhabit,

With uninhibited selfishness.

Our dishevelled rabble,

Of respectful rebels,

Have been known to get rowdy,

But we are no devils,

We are not the entities,

Who press ahead,

Swapping pebbles in streams,

And petals in hedgerows,

For metal machines,

Crushing hedgehogs’ homes,

To name but one species,

Among the many we can say with authority,

Could be endangered through these atrocities,

And yet it seems to be that we’re received apprehensively,

By those whose welfare we treat as priority,

We get served fixed penalties and serve sentences,

Whilst MP’s get served teas on their expenses,

By far, they’re not even the worst offenders,

They’re a smokescreen, for vendors of dreams,

And the fear that destroys them simultaneously,

It’s so heinous, are we really from the same family tree?

We try to reconcile that idea with what we see,

In the meantime we come face to face with you to make a plea,

“Don’t destroy florae, faunae, air and seas” – who would defend these,

Dealers who lie through their teeth,

Or get paid to protect these destructive fiends?

Obligations that are comically,

Tragic, like applying topical creams to tumours,

Expecting magic, We’ve had it up to the optical,

Lenses, through which we see these great offences,

We’re off the fences, one side of the borderline,

Divided from those who seem to glorify,

What we’re more likely to perceive as warning signs,

So whilst they toe the line and form a line,

Apparently desiring our total decline,

We can but remind ourselves that the divide is in the mind,

Stand ready to count as one, now’s the time.
