Sick of the silence

Lonely and broken, but aren’t we all?

I’ve only spoken to the wall since dawn,

Now it’s four p.m. and I’m stalling,

Smoking, talking to the floor and the ceiling,

Feeling like falling is all important,

Unsure as to the meaning,

Hoping the demons stay dormant, I’m not joking,

They’re stealingmy dreams each time I’m awoken.

Don’t know how I’m coping, this state of inertia,

Is poking the bears locatedin shadowy lairs,

I don’t dare approach though,

So I just close up, scared,

Hairs on the back of my neck, flare,

Bristling, is this a psychosis that we share?

Or is this an inner thing?

Is there even a difference?

I’m sick of listening to so many ignorant,

Self-declared prime Ministers, sinister smiles,

Lies, lines, graphs, statistics,

Tired of feeling tired of feeling,

LikeI wouldn’t mind my wrists slit,

Fuck this!

I won’t do what you told me,

Swallowing lies the government sold,

We got caught cold, but somebody,

Knew what was going on, now drones patrol,

Rules of two and six, curfews, sickening,

Sshh, I’m sick of the bickering,

Sick of thetwittering inhibiting our potential,

Going mental, sick of every single day,

Feeling the same, digital existence,

Feels so draining and the lame things,

They claim are entertaining are so inane,

Am I going insane? It seems that way,

Violent sensations reign,

I try to maintain equilibrium,

But turbulence remains, anticipating sirens,

I’m sick of the silence.

Blocking out the noise of misinformation,

Is eternally testing my patience,

I’d like to enjoy some engagement,

But it’s too dangerous, feeling paranoid,

That saying the wrong thing could result in arraignment,

Seems everyone is a potential plaintiff,

Feeding the hatred, waiting for any opportunity,

To take offence and aim their reaction,

Like a flame in the direction,

Of the one they perceive has attacked them,

Sometimes even whenI’m trying to back them,

Sometimes I feel likeI want to laugh at them,

No! I lower my guard and try to let go,

Of the feelings I know originate in perpetuating,

The same façades that have kept us in chains for ages,

Fuck this!

I try to stay patient, zen,

But the stress is relentless, hence the necessity for venting,

Sensing the senselessness and confusion,

Fear rears its ugly head, the great illusion,

And if that’s what’s winning, then what is love doing?

It’s collective trust and ourselves we’re abusing,

A life of servitude we’ll be choosing,

If we just keep snoozing,

I don’t find it amusing, instead of getting,

Hell bent on winning, or not losing,

We’re bringing you these rhythms and syllables,

Written and delivered with abilities that only improve by using them,

If you want to call this political, that’s a decision for the individual,

But we’respitting, hitting, and picking for the people,

And the life force that’s in us all.

We love this!

So, we won’t do what you told us,

Souls held captive, holed up, distracted,

Hold up! Get a furloughed of that!

The masters are chatting pandemic,

Passing bucks, scratching the backs of crooks,

Racking up tenfold profits in books,

Prices will rise man, deer like bucks,

Dereliction is endemic when trust becomes gold dust,

Taking liberties, selling them back to us,

For untold benefits, telling us nasty stuff,

Distracting the masses, liberate yourselves,

Get off your arses, if you don’t want to be controlled like asses,

For us, music is compassionate catharsis,

We’re artists, we don’t need the classes,

You’re creators too, it’s up to you to decide what your part is.
